Steps of a smile makeover procedure
Our office will begin by taking a complete series of x-rays to assess the relationship of the smile with facial features, assess the color composition of your teeth, and their texture. Once the imaging is done, the doctor will examine how the changes fit with your facial profile. The next step in the procedure is called an “assessment wax up.” The wax is sculpted to exacting proportions detailing the outcome. The doctor can begin the process of developing the patient’s smile on a duplicate of his/her mouth. Then these sculpted wax-ups are transferred in the mouth as acrylic temporaries in order to critically evaluate them and see what refinements, if any, are necessary. Even the patient will have the opportunity to review the actual veneers on his/her teeth to evaluate and approve them. The doctor will then determine and register how your teeth meet in function and chewing. This way we can avoid having any problems in the final smile makeover that could prove troublesome. Finally, all of the information is then communicated to our professional dental lab that will actually create the final restorations. Once the ideal relationship between the restoration and the facial soft tissues are achieved, improvements in beauty can be expected to follow.
