Inlays and Onlays

Classic Smiles Dentistry, located in Austell, Georgia, specializes in providing our clients with friendly oral services. If you think you need a dental crown or filling, our dentist can repair your teeth using inlays or onlays, which are two methods of restoring normal tooth structure from decay or other damage.

Inlays

At Classic Smiles Dentistry, we work with patients who typically have too much damage or decay in the tooth structure to be successfully treated with a filling, but have enough of the healthy tooth remaining to avoid the need for a crown. A dental inlay repairs the chewing surface of your tooth. You can have your inlays created of tooth-colored porcelain or composite resin. Our expert dental laboratory creates your dental inlay using the exact specifications of the tooth that needs restoration. The porcelain the lab uses to create your dental inlays will match the shade of your teeth. This allows your dental restoration to blend perfectly. Once your inlays arrive, the dentist will ensure they fit perfectly and then secure them in place.

Onlays

Many consider dental onlays indirect fillings. Onlays offer patients a stronger, well-fitting and longer lasting repair for tooth decay or other structural damage. While a dental filling is molded during your dental visit, an Onlay is created at our dental laboratory before it is fitted and then bonded to a damaged tooth. A dental restoration that requires material to be bonded within the tooth’s center is considered an inlay whereas; restorations involving the entire biting surface or one or more points of a tooth are Onlays.

Some Benefits of Onlays

Easy Cleaning: Dental onlays are tailored to fit perfectly with minimal preparation. This makes cleaning a dental onlay easier than cleaning a crown.

Color: A dental onlay is less likely to discolor than a tooth-colored resin filling.

True Size: A composite filling may shrink while it cures, porcelain onlays will not.

Natural Tooth Preservation: Dental onlays allow dentists to preserve the healthy tooth structure while restoring the damaged or decayed areas, this allows for functional longevity.

Stability: Dental onlays are strong and stable. Their superior fit and resilient material makes onlays a great choice, sometimes even strengthening a damaged tooth.

Vinicia G. Vinicia G.

"This is by far the best dental experience that I have ever had! Nakecyia was super welcoming when I initially called. I tried calling three dentists prior to reaching this office and was put on hold for extended periods of time by the other offices. She took my call right away and helped schedule an appointment sooner than I even expected!! This was enough for me to tell my boyfriend to call right away and schedule and appointment because we were both looking for a dentist in the area. She accommodated him just the same! Then we met Dr. Nwadike and the rest of the staff and they all had the exact same welcoming personalities!!! I speak for myself and my boyfriend when I say that we would ABSOLUTELY recommend this office to anyone who is looking for a dentist. Thank you Dr. Nwadike and team!!!!"
